Tracey Skinner
Tracey Skinner has a background in multiple arts disciplines. Performing arts featured strongly in earlier years both studying and working in Melbourne, London and Japan as a vocalist and dancer. Her interest in textiles, fashion and visual arts led her on a long journey of study in London and is an alumni of RMIT.
Self employed as a textile artist with a strong leaning towards screenprint, she also worked as a costume creator for many years. Alongside her practice she also works in the arts as a general manager and a producer of a number of arts events.
Inspiration for her visual arts design practice work is varied but currently inspired by salt lakes in the region, pebbles from the Eyre Peninsula and the joyous colour and shapes of fruit.. Hemp fabric is her penchant and along with vintage & recycled textiles she loves the process of re-imagining them into new stories.
She operates a small creative space (oh, how she loves spaces) and print studio that seems to also be a resting place for fabulous chairs looking for love.
