Living and practising on a grain farm in the Northern Wimmera,  Joan is constantly inspired by the forms, colours, and rhythms of  local lands. 

She paints abstract landscapes and loves to incorporate texture. In some works she has collaged some ancient rusty tin pieces from the farm. Her preferred medium is acrylic paint. 

The Pink Lake series has been a particular favourite to paint because of its varying countenances.

She has exhibited in local galleries and shows since becoming involved in her own arts practice in 2008, following her career as an arts teacher in local schools. She enjoys working and collaborating in the art studio with a group of Fed Uni artists, who are now sharing studio space in Firebrace St, Horsham under the Natimuk ACT Banner.
