Jacquie Tinkler
New to Natimuk, Jacquie is the new owner of the infamous Goat Gallery. With a background in art education, and currently working in higher education, Jacquie’s artistic practice explores ‘becoming’ an artist, artmaking as ritual, and the process of art making. Jacquie's currently works with drawing and ceramics, and for Jacquie, drawing is a way of thinking, feeling, responding, and playing with ideas, and working with clay is a particular process that requires artists to thoughtfully consider and respond to their materials in particularly physical and sensory ways.
In Jacquie’s new Natimuk studio she is experimenting with wild Natimuk clay as a material and as an exploration of what it means to live on Wotjobaluk Country. She is also engaging with the Wimmera landscape through drawing, photography, and painting, to explore what It means to live in a place with so much beauty, juxtaposed with an unreconciled and horrific colonial history, and the continued destruction of our environment.
